BackThe turbine foundation construction for the Lemen Offshore Wind Farm Project has been successfully completed.
On May 17, the turbine foundation construction for Lot 1 of Huaneng Shantou Lemen (II) Offshore Wind Farm Project—a key energy project in Guangdong Province in which our company participated—was fully completed.
The project is located near the Lemen Islands, off the eastern coast of Shantou City and the southern waters of Nan'ao County, with the nearest offshore distance of approximately 14 kilometers.
With a total planned capacity of around 600 MW, it stands as the largest single-unit offshore wind farm under construction in eastern Guangdong.
Our company's scope of work in Lot 1 includes:
- Foundation construction for 27 × 11 MW wind turbines
- Turbine installation
- Foundation construction for 1 offshore booster station
During the construction process, the project leveraged "Guansheng Yihang"—Asia’s largest and most versatile deepwater modular pile-stabilizing platform—to ensure the successful installation of extra-large-diameter monopiles.
To further enhance efficiency, the team pioneered groundbreaking innovations, including:
- Dual-Hook, Triple-Cable Monopile Handling Technique:
- Enabled single-vessel monopile flipping, cutting flipping time and significantly boosting installation speed.
- Optimized Pile-Driving Processes:
- Achieved industry-leading efficiency in oversized monopile installations, setting a new benchmark in China’s offshore wind sector.
The successful completion of pile-driving operations has laid a solid foundation for subsequent turbine installation and grid-connected power generation. Upon completion, the project is expected to achieve:
- Annual power output: ~2 billion kWh (20亿千瓦时)
- CO₂ reduction: ~1.8 million tons (180万吨)
This will significantly advance Shantou City’s and Guangdong Province’s efforts to:
- Build a low/zero-carbon urban energy system
- Accelerate progress toward China’s "Dual Carbon" goals (peak carbon & carbon neutrality)
